Degree programs

For the past 125 years, ESPCI ParisTech has conferred the prestigious Diplôme d’Ingénieur degree. To ensure the close interaction between teaching and research that is the hallmark of ESPCI ParisTech, the number of students is limited to 80 in each annual class. The faculty-student ratio is exceptionally high.

Since 2009-2010, two degrees have been conferred as requirements are completed :

  • at the end of the third year, a degree in engineering (ingénieur) as defined and validated by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur (CTI),
  • at the end of the fourth year, the ESPCI ParisTech "Advanced Master of Science and Technology" degree, in recognition of additional work at Master’s level (a French Research Master’s degree, foreign Master’s degree, Specialized Master’s degree, or equivalent degrees from other French or foreign institutions of higher education, after validation by the Office of the Dean of Studies).

Subsequently, 60% of graduates pursue research on a doctoral thesis and earn a PhD.

In addition, ESPCI ParisTech has seven joint programs leading to a Research Master’s degree :

  • Science of materials and nano-objets
  • Sensors, measurement and instrumentation
  • Nuclear engineering
  • Chemical engineering
  • Molecular chemistry
  • Chemistry and physical chemistry of materials
  • Analytical, physical and theoretical chemistry
  • Environmental engineering : management and treatment of water, soil and waste.
  • the School has also conferred with ParisTech a Specialized Master’s degree in Bioengineering.
